Ski Mountaineering in Lagorai

Itineraries to immerse yourself fully in the magical atmosphere of these mountains

The Lagorai-Cima d’Asta massif is a prime destination for ski mountaineering. Its unique geomorphological features mean that almost 90 per cent of the peaks can be reached on skis, with routes of all lengths and levels of difficulty.

Some suggestions

The long mountain range (approximately 50 km) commonly known as the Lagorai is in fact made up of several sub-groups (the Monti di Palù, the Massa del Monte Croce, the Folga-Scanaiol, etc.). In particular, the Cima d’Asta massif (with the sub-groups of the Cime di Rava and Cime di Tolvà) constitutes a geological formation in its own right, but given its orographic proximity, it is often treated as a single entity with the Lagorai.

  • Sasso Rosso and the Prunn Canyon, BS 815m
Of the many options offered by the peaks overlooking the Val dei Mocheni, this is, in our opinion, one of the most picturesque. The ascent takes place over beautiful, open slopes, whilst the distinctive canyon, which you descend through, acts as a sort of ‘secret passage’ to cross over into the adjacent valley. Well-settled snow is required.
  • Cima Nassere, MSA 800m
A splendid winter hike with no major difficulties, featuring a descent that often offers powder snow.
  • Cima d’Asta OSA 1800m
A spectacular route through rugged terrain: not to be missed. Given the length of the route, it is advisable to undertake it in late spring and set off early in the morning.
  • Cime di Bragarolo BSA 1220m
A spectacular spring route offering one of the most beautiful descents in the entire massif. Best tackled when visibility is excellent and the snow has settled, once the side slopes of both couloirs have already shed their snow.
