Day 1: Departure from Malga Sorgazza towards Cima d’Asta, followed by an ascent to the Brentari mountain hut, where we will spend the night.
Day 2: From the Brentari mountain hut, we set off towards the Socede Pass, then descend to Forcella Magna, climb up to the Lasteati Lakes and follow the path that runs alongside the summit of Tombola Nera, before descending towards the Caldenave mountain hut where we will spend the night. The route is mainly downhill and on gentle slopes, passing through the trenches and outposts of the Great War.
Day 3: Return to Malga Sorgazza from the Cima Rava area, passing by Lake Costa Brunella, once again following paths that trace the wartime border. There are a few slightly more technical sections, but the scenery is fantastic.
*optional: you can add an extra day to the trek by incorporating the ‘Zimon Loop’, a new trail that allows you to explore the wild northern slope of Cima d’Asta and climb to its summit, before returning to spend a second night at the Brentari mountain refuge.
