Along the ‘Via Normale’, passing by the Fortress

The crossing and the ascent take two days’ walking. On the first day, you set off from the Diavolezza mountain hut, which is easily accessible by the ski lifts. You descend to the Vedretta di Pers and cross the Fortezza, a rocky ridge that rises to separate the Vedretta di Pers from the Vedretta da Morteratsch. You continue beneath Mount Bellavista until you reach the Cresta Guzza pass and then the Marco e Rosa mountain hut, where you spend the night.

At dawn, we begin the ascent to the summit of Piz Bernina via the Normal Route. We descend from the summit and retrace our steps along the route we took on the way up to return to the Diavolezza Mountain Hut.
