Ascent to the summit from the French side

A long high-mountain route that requires excellent physical fitness and a good level of training. From a technical point of view, you need to be reasonably accustomed to using crampons and an ice axe.

Ascent in 2 days

  • Day 1: Ascent from Les Houches via the ski lift and rack railway to Nid d’Aigle (2,372 m), then on to the Gouter refuge (3,815 m), where we spend the night.
  • Day 2: Set off in the dead of night, climb to the summit (4,810 m) and return to the valley.

A 3-day climb

  • Day 1: From Chamonix, take the Les Houches cable car and the Tramway du Mont Blanc to the Nid d’Aigle mountain hut (2,372 metres), then on to the Tête Rousse mountain hut (3,165 metres).
  • Day 2: Crossing the Aiguille du Goûter gully, ascent to the Goûter refuge (3,815 metres), reaching the summit of Mont Blanc by midday.
  • Day 3: Return via the Gouter couloir, descent to the Nid d’Aigle refuge, then train and cable car down to the valley.

  • Approximate prices for 2 days: 131 euros for half-board at the Gouter refuge; 20 euros for the cable car; 35 euros for the train; 75 euros for the guide’s fees.
