The first introduction to vertical climbing takes place on a crag, where, through a top-rope climbing session, participants will be able to familiarise themselves with the rock and learn how to use their feet – a fundamental skill for progressing along via ferrata routes whilst conserving arm strength. Knots, rope manoeuvres and the safe management of the rope team will be the topics covered in depth on this course. On increasingly challenging routes, participants will learn how to manage the rope team safely and how to tackle increasingly difficult sections independently.
This course is also useful for parents who wish to take on via ferratas with their family, to learn how to manage a rope team made up of their children and understand how to tackle the various sections whilst ensuring the children’s safety.
The difficulty level of the via ferratas will be agreed with the guide based on the participants’ abilities and expectations.
Day 1: CLIMBING lesson on the crag at Arco. Climbing techniques, rope manoeuvres and basic knots.
Days 2 and 3: In consultation with the guide, two via ferratas will be selected to tackle, putting the techniques learnt into practice. Participants will take turns leading the rope team, simulating independent climbing. Depending on the season, it may be possible to tackle two via ferratas in the mountains, spending a night in a mountain hut.
