Canyon Forra dei Canavai

This canyon is full of jumps and slides; some of them can even be done several times.

A gorge characterised by its abundant travertine formations – also known as vegetable tuff – a true natural gem. The Canavai Gorge takes its name from hemp; in the past, this site was used to process and preserve the plant before weaving it into fabric. An enjoyable gorge, suitable for both adults and children.

The Canavai Canyon trail

The starting point is near the village of Padergnone. Once we’ve got kitted out with the necessary equipment, we’ll set off along a path that runs through the gorge on the left bank and takes us to the top of our entry point. After a pre-activity briefing, we’ll enter the water. Right from the start, the canyon features jumps and slides that end in deep pools, ideal for having fun.

After a few jumps, you’ll come to the only compulsory abseil in the canyon. A lovely, narrow passage will lead you to more jumps and slides, where a cascade of warm water flowing in from the left awaits you. Once you reach the bridge, the first – and most difficult – section comes to an end. From here on, the canyon becomes more gentle, with flat sections alternating with slides and jumps leading you to the exit.
